"Baton Rouge have you gone berserk? Can't you see that man is a ni?"
Look, it's just this simple: after sixteen years of do-nothing mayors from Baker/Zachary who fiddle while Rome burned, the people felt a drastic change had to be made. In other words, they had to destroy the city in order to save it.
The truth is, it will be whites who destroy the city by "getting while the gettin's good." Think of Rock Ridge, whitefolk: under Sheriff Bart, the town escaped the grip of corrupt and incompetent politicians and an oppressive gang of murderers and thieves. Kip may not be the salvation on the white horse - indeed, he may be exactly the opposite - but the city of Baton Rouge has taken a giant step away from its regular voting pattern which closely resembled inertia. It's time for a more involved and more critical electorate, one that won't let Kip off the hook simply because he allows yuppies to feel better about themselves (ie., "I'm open minded...I voted for Kip!", the same feeling of personal pride they used to get when they listen to Hootie and the Blowfish).
We are a city that needs to fufill it's potential and no mayor will make that happen on his own. It starts with voters holding their leaders accountable, something they have been adverse to doing (especially in some areas like Central and Southeast, where incumbents never lose no matter how crappy and un-Republican they behave.)
