The cover story on President George W. Bush says we are a nation divided between the Bush-lovers and the Bush-loathers. It's no surprise that I fall in the former category. This passage is telling:
Republican and Democratic voters now disagree on nearly every important measure of Bush's presidency—on whether he has enhanced this country's stature in the world, whether he's been too partisan, whether he has a good grasp of the issues, whether he favors the rich, whether he has been too quick to inject his own moral and religious beliefs into politics. Asked by TIME/CNN pollsters to describe Bush, Republicans over and over again used words like "decisive," "determined" and "strong." Democrats saw the same man in reverse image as "cocky," "arrogant" and "boneheaded." How we see George Bush tells us as much about how we see the world as about who he is.
Okay, let's take each point one-by-one...
1. "whether he has enhanced this country's stature in the world." This is a non-issue. Our President should do what is in the best interests of our nation. The world is filled with tin-horn dictators, half-witted inbred monarchs, sheiks living off the fat of their land and the backs of their people, untrustworthy communist dictators, latin military juntas and so forth. We don't need their approval for anything. Only lefties who imagine all the children of the world holding hands and singing that Coca-Cola song or Kumbaya obsess about this. Remember Ronald Reagan: Peace through strength. After all, we are the good guys.
2. "whether he's been too partisan". Funny, this complain is never levied against Democrat leaders! Frankly, I believe this president has united Republicans like never before even when they don't agree with what he is doing. I don't support this latest Medicare bill, but I understand the reason why he is trying to get it done.
3. "whether he has a good grasp of the issues". What? I think he fully understands that America wants prosperity and not to be blown to bit by terrorists.
4. "whether he favors the rich". Once again, the media shows its true colors. Only a leftie would write a sentence like that becuase they don't understand real economics. Middle class tax relief does not produce jobs; across the board tax cuts favor no one and as such are inherently fair. Besides, its not really important that we try to artificially level the playing field. Where's Ayn Rand when you need her?
5. "whether he has been too quick to inject his own moral and religious beliefs into politics". I know where this is going. This doesn't deserve a response.
I love the fact that Bush infuriates the left. Love it. They're going nuts. It's a beautiful sight!
